Welcome to Riverina Geocaching Inc
Riverina Geocaching inc. was formed in February 2009 with the express purpose of organising and running Australia's first Mega event.
Fourteen months later after countless hours spent by committee members Oz Mega Wagga Wagga was held,
which was not only Australia's first Mega event but the first Mega event held in the southern hemisphere.
The event was well attended and after all the bills were paid there was some money left over for donation to local charities.
With our main goal achieved we decided to keep Riverina Geocaching inc. going with the aim of promoting Geocaching in the Riverina and hosting small events.
We hosted an event on New Years Day 2011 which was very well attended by cachers from outside the Riverina.
Some of the members join up for a group trip to areas around the Riverina. Some take cars and some take motorcycles.
MEGA EVENT statement
The Riverina Geocaching Committee have been contacted by several people wanting to know about our involvement in another Mega Event. There appears to be some misunderstanding about the next Mega committee and their event.
The following statement clearly defines our position.
Riverina Geocaching Inc. are definitely NOT the organising committee and have NO involvement in any part of the next Mega event, originally proposed for the area around the Riverina towns of Gundagai and Laurel Hill, and then apparently moved to Albury/Wodonga.
'Oz Mega Wagga Wagga' was a name given to the 1st Mega Event in Australia. The words 'Oz Mega' were chosen by and used by Riverina Geocaching Inc exclusively for our event.
Riverina Geocaching Inc have not excluded the use of the words 'Oz Mega' in regard to any future Mega events, but would like to think that any future Mega Committee's should make contact with us as a matter of course and courtesy if they wish to use the words 'Oz Mega' in regard to any future Mega events.
